Rug Cleaning in Richmond Hill
Collection and delivery in Richmond Hill are included. We take the rug back to the workshop, wash it properly, and bring it home.
What Richmond Hill is built from
Bryan County on the Ogeechee River, south-west of the city — the town Henry Ford rebuilt in the 1930s when it was still called Ways Station. An older core, riverfront and creek-front houses on the marsh side, and a very large amount of newer subdivision building on slab, with Fort Stewart's gate a short drive west.
Military and commuting households with a high rate of turnover. A striking number of the rugs here were bought overseas on a posting and have crossed an ocean in a container to get to this floor.
The Richmond Hill problem
Moving and storing is what damages rugs here. A rug that has spent months in a shipping container or an unconditioned storage unit has had heat and damp with no air movement at all, and that is where mildew in the foundation and moth grazing under the fold both start — neither of them visible until the rug is opened out flat and turned over. Rugs bought abroad also arrive built to the conventions of wherever they came from, with dyes that may or may not be stable, so the wash gets decided by testing rather than by assumption. And there is a local water risk that is not the coastal one: the Ogeechee is a blackwater river, stained brown with tannin off the swamps it drains, and it comes up on heavy rain. Water like that does not leave a clean tide line on a rug, it leaves a brown one, and the staining is a separate job from the drying.
If that sounds like your rug, send the form and describe what you are seeing. We will tell you whether it needs the full treatment or not.
